What a demo video does
A product demo has one job: show a viewer the product solving a problem they recognize, quickly enough that they keep watching. It sits on a landing page, goes out in a sales email, plays on a screen at a trade show, or opens a pitch. Most run between one and three minutes. A shorter cut for social or ads often comes from the same material.
Picking the story
The most common problem in a raw demo is that it shows every feature. A viewer can't hold that many. We start by asking which task the video should show from start to finish, then cut everything else or move it to a short closing section. One clear task beats a tour of the whole menu.
If you have a script, we edit to it. If you only have a long recording of someone clicking through the product, we send a short outline first, with time codes from your recording, so you can approve the story before we cut picture.
What the edit adds
- Waiting removed: page loads, typing pauses and hesitations cut or sped up
- Zooms and pans that follow the action, so small text and buttons can be read on a phone
- Callouts, highlights and short labels on the parts the voice is talking about
- A smoothed cursor, or a larger one if the original is hard to follow
- Voiceover cleaned, leveled and synced so each line lands on its click
- Music under the voice, kept low, from a library you have a license for
- Captions, as a file or burned in
- An opening title and an end card with your logo and next step
Demo data and privacy
A demo looks best with tidy sample data: realistic names, round numbers and no test entries called "asdf". If you can't set up a clean demo account, send the recording anyway and list what needs covering. We blur real customer names, emails and IDs, or replace them with neutral placeholders drawn on top.
Formats
| Where it runs | Shape | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Landing page or pitch | 16:9 | Often muted on autoplay, so captions carry the story |
| Sales email | 16:9 with a thumbnail still | A short version with a clear opening frame |
| Social and ads | 1:1, 4:5 or 9:16 | Reframed around the active part of the screen |
| Trade show screen | 16:9, looped | No voice; large captions and labels instead |
Questions
Can you record the demo for us?
No. We edit recordings you make, since you have the product, the accounts and the demo data. We can send a short recording checklist before you start.
Can you make versions for different audiences?
Yes. A common set is a full demo, a short teaser and a silent captioned loop. List them in the brief so they're priced together.
